Here at Beauty, Books, & Bakes we’re exactly what we say we are: a blog that posts about three of the most important things in my life: makeup, words, & sweets (you thought I’d just say Beauty, Books, & Bakes again, didn’t you?).

So who am I? Well, if you’re here it’s likely because I know you and have sent you a link, bullying you into opening it. If by some chance you DON’T know me personally, I’ll tell you a bit about me:

My name is Johanna Murphy but I most typically go by Jo or Jojo (much to my mother’s chagrin).

As a child, I was always always reading. Once I hit college I turned that love of literature into the most useless degree possible: English! What was better than getting to read books AND get credit for it?! Not going to class ever, that’s what (I wasn’t great at school…my b). Regardless, I adore reading and after a slight hiatus from being a voracious reader, I have renewed my love of all things literary.

Not quite such a forever love is my baking addiction – only recently have I started down that road but BOY have I figured out the cheat-code to getting humans to like me and it lies within my KitchenAid Stand mixer. I tend to dabble in cookies and cakes, however with this little blog, we’ll be journeying into more of the unknown AND my own recipes.

And finally, the beauty portion (just realized I approached the topics in reverse to the title but you’ve made it this far, stay with me): I can’t really pinpoint exactly when my love affair with all things beauty product began but I’m sure I could take a look at my bank account and see when it started to nosedive. I’ve previously had beauty-only-focused blogs so my makeup and skincare recommendations will be where I’m most comfortable. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest…you may want to glance elsewhere as I’ll go over my favorites, new discoveries, and any product that will stop me aging (until I get Botox).

So, that’s me and that’s the site! Explore what you like, ignore what you don’t, and if you don’t like it please don’t tell me, I’m very delicate.
